BREATHE LIFE INTO YOUR COMMUNITY BY VOLUNTEERING

The American Lung Association of Los Angeles County
Is Looking for Volunteers in Your Community

(LOS ANGELES-July 28, 1998) The American Lung Association of Los Angeles County is looking for volunteers in the Long Beach, Palmdale/Lancaster, San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Valley areas to spearhead and support the Association's BreathWalk '98 in their communities. ?The volunteer community teams will work with the Manager of Special Events of the Association to promote the event throughout the community. ?Community teams are needed to distribute brochures and posters, make phone calls and generate excitement in the community for BreathWalk '98.

Becoming a BreathWalk volunteer is a great way to educate others about the importance of the air we breathe. ?Volunteering is one of the best ways to become involved in your community and help others. ?According to Dr. Jud Schoendorf, an American Lung Association of Los Angeles County and BreathWalk '98 volunteer, "One of the many reasons I volunteer with the Association is because I believe their volunteer programs service the needs of our diverse community. ?The programs help those who are unable to help themselves."

BreathWalk is an annual event of the Association to raise awareness of the effects of air pollution in every community in Los Angeles County. ?The community event will include a host of activities for people to enjoy. ?BreathWalk proceeds will help support the Association's fight for clean air, and fight against asthma, emphysema, lung cancer and tuberculosis.

BreathWalk '98 is scheduled for:
