Hi all-

I'm about to leave to catch up with the group on the way to Fort Pierre. Attached to this note is a Macintosh "SimpleText" document (with a DOS filename)

TRAIN2_3.TXT which is a text note including a sound recording (made with my trusty PowerBook built-in mic) of the train that passed my hotel last night as I was writing the "train" letter. Mac users simply double-click to open the document in SimpleText, then use the "play" command in the "sound" menu to hear the sound.

Apologies to Gates OS users - I cleared all "unnecessary" applications from my PowerBook hard drives in order to make room for pictures - and didn't bring along a utility that could convert Mac sounds into .WAV files. Perhaps you can use one of your own and import the sound from the Mac document.

Off to catch the circus.

hugs,

Bob
