Kathleen A. Torres, M.P.H. was recently appointed to the position of Director, Office of Women's Health for Los Angeles County, due to her long track record in women's health issues. In her new position, Kathleen has department wide responsibility for the coordination and direction of women's health activities to improve women's health, and for promoting the expansion of funding for research activities focusing on disorders and conditions impacting women.
Kathleen, a two-time past President of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women, has been an active member of the board of directors of the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County since 1987. She has served on both the national and state board of directors and as chair of the Association's advocacy committee. On the board of directors, Kathleen was instrumental in recognizing the necessity of creating a cadre of volunteers that represent the diversity of Los Angeles County.
