You want to make a donation to the America Lung Association, but you don't want to use your current cash or assets. Many people are now beginning to use life insurance to make a significant gift to the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County, by using policies they already have or policies they purchased for this purpose.

In looking at life insurance as a way to give, one of the first things to consider is do you have a life insurance policy you no longer need? Have loans been paid off, have your children reached maturity and obtained their own financial security, or is your beneficiary deceased? You should also remember that by designating the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County as owner and beneficiary of an insurance policy, it is possible to make a much larger gift than may have otherwise been affordable, and your premium contribution may become tax deductible.

On an existing policy, if the present beneficiary no longer needs the protection, you can make the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County the new beneficiary or co-beneficiary. Or, you can name the Association as a remainder or contingent beneficiary. This permits the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County to receive the proceeds after the deaths of the primary and secondary beneficiaries.

The most important thing to remember is that your life insurance gift to the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County will help make breathing easier for everyone, because... When You Can't Breathe, Nothing Else Matters?.
