Alexandra Paul of Baywatch- shown here with local high school students checks out the latest electric car from General Motors |
Alexandra Paul of "Baywatch" fame and a committed electric car owner participated in the introduction of a new classroom project aimed at teaching students how electric vehicles work. 300 teachers received a classroom kit with air quality and electric vehicle curriculum materials, along with model electric cars. Back in the teachers' classrooms, students used the materials to explore a number of traditional interdisciplinary science topics while learning about ways society can harness technology to solve problems like air pollution. The students also had the chance to build working model electric vehicles. The project culminated in a November 7 celebration at the Peterson Automotive Museum.
The Southern California Air Quality and Electric Vehicle Education program was sponsored by ALALAC, the California Air Resources Board, the Coalition for Clean Air, EV Media, General Motors, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee, and Southern California Edison. |
