What Are Asthma Triggers?

What are Asthma Triggers?

Asthma episodes can be caused by many things - we call them asthma triggers. If your doctor tells you that you have asthma you should try to avoid your asthma triggers as often as you can.

Can you find your asthma triggers in the trigger chart?

Common Triggers

  • A cold or flu infection
  • Exercise
  • Cigarette smoke, odors and fumes like perfume, hair spray, wet paint fumes and car exhaust
  • Things people are allergic to such as animals, feathers, dust and dust mites, weeds, certain foods and pollen from trees and grass
  • Cold weather or changes in weather
