After you take your asthma medicine, or even if you are just finished playing, it is a good time to take a moment to rest and relax. Deep breathing is important for you and your lungs.

Try to think of something that makes you feel happy. Turn on the T.V. or talk to someone. Just talking about your feelings can help you feel better.

A great activity to practice relaxing is belly breathing.

1. Sit up straight in a chair or lie down on the bed or floor and bend your knees. If you are still having trouble breathing, you should sit in a chair.
2. Place both hands on your belly.
3. Breathe in slowly through your nose. Take the air into your belly and feel it blow up big like a balloon. Keep your chest still.
4. Blow the air slowly out of your mouth through puckered lips. Feel your belly get small.
5. Repeat this exercise slowly 10 times. It will make breathing easier and it will make you feel relaxed.
