How Can I Get Tested for TB?

A Mantoux TB skin test is the easiest way to find out if you have a tuberculosis infection. You can get a skin test at your doctor's office or call (213) 744-6151 to reach the L.A. County TB control center nearest you.

You should get tested for TB if:

  1. You have spent a lot of time with a person with infectious TB.
  2. You have HIV infection or other conditions that weaken your immune system.
  3. You are from a country with high TB rates.
  4. You live or work where TB disease is common (some nursing homes, homeless shelters, migrant farm camps and prisons).
  5. You inject drugs.

Remember that TB can be fatal if not properly and thoroughly treated.
