1999 Freedom From Smoking Clinics

Conducted through ALA Trained Agencies and at Worksites

Clinics Listed Alphabetically by City

The objectives of this smoking cessation clinic are to encourage and assist smokers to quit through a self understanding of their smoking habits and to increase their knowledge of the tobacco problem in general. Thus, thanks to information about smoking or discussion for dissertation or other type of scientific activity, people who smoke will be able to realize the harm to their health.

There is a no magic approach to quitting smoking. However, experience has shown that one of the most successful ways to help people quit is through a group approach. The American Lung Association has developed a program that has enjoyed nation-wide success and has helped thousands of people kick the habit. The program is conducted by ALA trained and certified instructors who have a background in health education, teaching, psychology, medicine or have quit successfully themselves through the program and want to help others.

The use of visual aids, pertinent handout materials and guest speakers add interest and value to the classes.
