Our Mission and Goals

Mission

The mission of the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County
is to prevent and eliminate lung disease,
and to improve the quality of life and health of those with lung disease.

A. ?PROGRAM GOALS

Children's Lung Health: ?To prevent and eliminate children's lung disease and to improve the quality of life and health of those with lung disease through their developmental years.

Tobacco: ?To achieve a smoke-free environment.

Tuberculosis: ?To prevent and eliminate tuberculosis in Los Angeles County.

Air Quality: ?To improve indoor and outdoor air quality to better the health of the community.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease/Lung Cancer: ?To prevent and eliminate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and other adult lung diseases and to improve the quality of life and health of all those affected.

Occupational Health: ?To prevent and eliminate work-related lung injury and disease and to improve the quality of life and health of all those affected.

B. ?RESEARCH

To support both basic and clinical research of the highest quality by any of the scientific disciplines in order to prevent and eliminate lung disease and to improve the quality of life and health of those affected.

C. ?ADVOCACY

To promote, actively support and educate the public on legislation and causes that advance lung health.

D. ?COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

To assume a leadership role on public issues relating to lung health of the Los Angeles community, and to promote community health services in lung disease for all residents of Los Angeles County.

E. ?MANAGEMENT

To optimize the development and administration of human and fiscal resources in the pursuit and implementation of Association's goals and policies.

F. ?FUND RAISING

To expand the Association's short and long-term donor bases through both traditional and innovative approaches in order to support current and future Association program goals.
