If you have asthma, you should always carry your asthma medicine with you. If you can't carry your medicine around in school, make sure your school nurse has your medicine.

After you tell an adult that you are having an asthma episode, the next step is to take your asthma medication.

Asthma medicine keeps your airways open. Asthma medicine can often prevent you from getting an asthma episode, or keep an episode from getting worse.

Make sure you learn all about your asthma medicine and how to take it. Your doctor can show you how. Always take your medicine the way your doctor wants you to.

Using a spacer with your inhaler can help get the medicine down into your lungs where it really works. Use a spacer everytime you use an inhaler.
