Tobacco

Over 40,000 medical studies have proven that smoking causes disease and death. Each year, an estimated 430,700 Americans (1 in 5) die from smoking-related diseases - that's more than from AIDS, drug abuse, car accidents and murder combined.

Tobacco smoke contains about 4,000 chemicals, including 200 known poisons. Every time someone smokes, poisons such as benzene, formaldehyde and carbon monoxide are inhaled by the smoker and released into the air as deadly secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke kills 3,000 non-smokers in the United States every year.

The facts show that we must do all we can to quit smoking, not only for our own health, but also for the health and well being of those around us.
